Physical Therapy

BRET WALTZ, DPT, CSCS: Bret has been practicing physical therapy since 2006 in the Kansas City area as an outpatient/orthopedic therapist. He has experience working with, and educating individuals at all levels in the rehab and sports performance setting. Bret received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, FL where he earned the program’s top honors in both the classroom and clinical setting. This accomplishment made him the first student to achieve both awards.

Bret was introduced to the profession when working as a physical therapist aide in New York, NY. He was exposed to a wide variety of patients including professional and Olympic athletes. Assisting the therapists and witnessing the improvements made to the patients’ quality of life was both rewarding and inspiring. This experience was the catalyst that encouraged him to pursue a career in physical therapy.

In addition to practicing physical therapy, Bret is currently the Director of Sports Performance at Overland Park Racquet Club, where he assists in the development of junior tennis players. He attended Purdue University and received his undergraduate degree in Movement and Sports Science. Bret is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists and a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Sports and Conditioning Association.

Introduction: The Inside Sports Clinic Physical Therapy Department offers a wide range of rehabilitation services and we are committed to providing the most up-to-date, comprehensive care for our patients. Our goal is not only to relieve you of your aches and pain but to get you back to your normal everyday function. Expect your experience to be challenging, rewarding, and fun. Come visit us in our unique clinic setting, where you may run into a past, current or future NFL star.

Treatment Philosophy: Our rehabilitation programs are developed to promote optimal joint stabilization, balance and proprioception, total body symmetry, and function. We believe that stability and correct neuromuscular control is a must for the body to function normally. Without these aspects, patients develop abnormal posturing, compensatory movement patterns, and asymmetry throughout the body. One or a combination of these faults may lead to tissue breakdown and injury over time. With the combination of manual treatment, therapeutic exercise, and functional training these abnormalities can be corrected.
